INTEGRIS Health Breast Imaging Services

INTEGRIS Health provides comprehensive diagnostic and screening sites across the state to help detect breast cancer, accurately and early. With state-of-the-art 3D tomosynthesis (3D mammography) equipment and board-certified specialists, we can detect abnormalities with the assistance of breast screening mammograms, MRIs, ultrasounds and biopsies.

Screening Mammograms

For patients age 40 and older, yearly screening (or routine) mammograms should be a part of your annual physical exam. Screening mammogram appointments are for women with no new breast problems or concerns, such as new lumps, pain, discharge or skin changes. Screening mammogram appointments are designed to be quick and convenient.

Results are available by MyChart notification or sent by mail. Most insurance companies will cover the cost of screening mammograms.

If you meet screening criteria, we look forward to seeing you soon.

Diagnostic Mammograms

Diagnostic mammograms are necessary for women having breast symptoms, such as new lumps, pain, discharge or skin changes, abnormal results from a screening mammogram or short-interval follow-up imaging. Diagnostic exams are directed by a radiologist and are more involved, often utilizing specialized views. Results are provided at the end of the appointment. A breast ultrasound may also be performed, depending on the specific concern. Insurance companies will consider deductibles and co-pays as part of the coverage.

What Is a Diagnostic Mammogram?

When it comes to breast cancer screenings, the word “mammogram” is what most people associate with the testing that plays a key role in diagnosing cancer. But some people may not know there are two types of mammograms – screening mammograms and diagnostic mammograms.

Understanding Breast Cancer Risk

Despite being one of the most common types of cancers, the scientific explanation for why breast cancer occurs more often than other types of cancers is unknown in the medical community. What researchers do know is which factors heighten – or lower – the risk of developing breast cancer. As breast cancer prevalence grows (women have a 13 percent lifetime risk, meaning 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed), having a basic understanding of what puts you at risk can help you prepare for the future.
