What is Pulmonary Disease?

Pulmonary disease is a type of disorder that affects the respiratory system. This includes lung disorders like asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and lung cancer, caused by genetics, pollutants and smoking.

Symptoms include breathing difficulties, coughing and fatigue. Treatments vary from medication and lifestyle changes to surgery for severe cases.

Respiratory Conditions

Our providers diagnose and treat all aspects of respiratory disease. Click on each item to learn more about specific conditions.

Occurs when the immune system wrongly targets harmless substances like dust, mold or pollen, causing symptoms from itchy eyes and sneezing to severe anaphylaxis.

Causes inflation and narrowing of the airways, making it difficult to breathe.

Inflammation of the bronchi, causing increased mucus. Typically lasting at least three months each year for two consecutive years.

Persistent coughing, lasting more than several weeks impacting daily life and disrupting sleep.

Ongoing inflammation and damage to the airways and lungs causing shortness of breath, cough, mucus production and exercise intolerance.

Often results from smoking, air pollution or irritant exposure, which damages the lung's air sacs over time.

Affects lung tissue and the space around air sacs, causing excessive tissue growth, scarring, and thickening, which impairs oxygen absorption.

Uncontrollable and abnormal cell growth in the lungs, forming tumors and potentially spreading to other parts of the body.

Benign abnormal growth on the lungs, caused by infections, autoimmune diseases and cancer.

Conditions that affect the thin membranes that cover the lungs and outline the chest cavity.

An infection in the lungs that could lead to hospitalization as air sacs fill with pus or liquid.

Evaluate and treat conditions like sleep apnea, snoring, narcolepsy, movement disorders and insomnia.

A serious infection caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, affecting the lungs, bones, lymph nodes, heart and nervous system.

Spot it Early, Stop it Early

INTEGRIS Health now offers the latest advancement in minimally invasive peripheral lung biopsy. Robotic navigational bronchoscopy using the ION platform is designed to access hard-to-reach areas.

Robotic navigational bronchoscopy offers new benefits to the patient.

  • Minimally invasive lung biopsy
  • Ability to biopsy previously inaccessible nodules
  • Earlier lung cancer detection resulting in improved outcomes and survival rates
  • Marking lung nodules to make surgery quicker
  • Mediastinal staging using endobronchial ultrasound bronchoscopy

Understanding Ion Robotic Bronchoscopy

A minimally invasive procedure that helps providers find and biopsy lung nodules with great precision.

When used with lung cancer screening, ION supports early diagnosis and staging of the lung cancer.

The ION catheter's intuitive, flexible design allows the specialist to examine the lungs. The tiny tool will then collect a tissue sample from the suspicious nodule for testing.

Your provider will consult with you if this procedure is right for you. If you have a suspicious spot, mass or nodule on your lung then it may require further examination.

Freedom to Breathe Easier

Freedom to Breathe Easier

At INTEGRIS Health Medical Group Baptist Pulmonary Medicine, we're at the forefront of health care innovation.

Our providers offer Zephyr® Lung Valve, a minimally invasive procedure that offers an alternative to medication or surgery for patients with severe COPD.

By placing a small valve in the endobronchial tubes, this procedure enhances lung function, boosts exercise capacity and elevates quality of life.

  • Enjoy easier breathing.
  • Improved well-being.
  • Shorter recovery times.
