The body's endocrine system is made up of several glands such as the pancreas, pituitary gland, thyroid gland, gut, adrenal glands and reproductive glands that make and release hormones, which regulate a wide array of functions in the body.  The endocrine system controls a child's development, growth and stature, puberty, bone health, electrolytes such as sodium and potassium, as well as blood sugars.

Common pediatric problems diagnosed and treated include:

• Diabetes mellitus including type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, cystic fibrosis-related diabetes (CFRD), maturity onset diabetes of the young (MODY), and steroid or medication induced diabetes. We provide cutting-edge diabetes technology such as insulin pumps, smart insulin pens and continuous glucose monitors to help with management of diabetes.
• Thyroid conditions that may cause underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) or overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism) function such as congenital hypothyroidism, Hashimoto's disease and Graves Disease.
• Growth conditions such as short stature
• Early or delayed puberty
• Pituitary gland conditions that cause one or more hormone deficiencies such as hypopituitarism, growth hormone deficiency and diabetes insipidus
• Adrenal function disorders such as adrenal insufficiency
• Differences in sexual development (DSD) such as congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH)
• Hypoglycemia (low blood sugars)
• High cholesterol or lipid conditions such as familial hypercholesterolemia
• Bone conditions such as rickets, or brittle bones
• Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
• Obesity
