He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and completed his general surgery residency at the University of North Carolina Hospitals. "I find the treatment of colorectal problems to be gratifying as they are challenging but often have an opportunity for cure. As a colorectal surgeon, I get the chance to improve patient’s symptoms and even save lives."
Dr. Mahoney lives with his wife, who is also a physician, and their dogs. He enjoys exercising, watching football and spending time outdoors.
