Urgent Care Pain Management - Safe Prescribing Practices

As the largest healthcare system in Oklahoma, INTEGRIS Health is committed to providing safe prescribing practices for patients with chronic, recurring and acute pain-related complaints in the absence of an Emergency Medical Condition.

Patients visiting INTEGRIS Health Urgent Care who are experiencing pain or seeking treatment for pain will find that our pain management approach is conservative, and most patients will not be prescribed opioids from an INTEGRIS Health Urgent Care Clinic. Controlled Substances such as Hydrocodone, Oxycodone, Morphine and Dilaudid are designed to reduce the intensity of pain signals to the brain. However, they can have very serious risks, including addiction, over-sedation and even death. These medications should be managed by your primary care physician, who is familiar with your health history.

In cases where there is severe pain with concern or risk of complications, or a life-threatening condition, our providers will refer patients to the emergency room. Thank you for your support and understanding.
